Star Wars comics go digital (again)
Posted:
22nd July
Two years ago Dark Horse Comics
experimented in the e-comic digital format, Dark
Horse Mobile. Produced by THQ, selected Star Wars
titles were exclusively available from iTunes as full-story
collection apps for Apple iOS products (iPod, iPhone, etc); however
last year, with THQ's license expiring, Dark Horse Comics
took production of e-comics in-house and created their own digital
store that allows users to purchase not only full-story collections
but also individual comic book issues (previously unavailable from THQ/iTunes)
or complete story collections and be able to read them on not only
iOS products but also on any modern web browser. Since its launch
earlier this year, the Dark
Horse Digital
store has been noticeable in its absence of Star Wars titles - until
now - as from today a selected number of Star Wars comics including
the popular Legacy: War
mini-series as well as Knights
of the Old Republic (issues #1 thru #6) are now available in
digital form from the Dark
Horse Digital
store.
The complete list of available titles is:

Cover revealed for The Old
Republic: Revan
Posted:
21st July
StarWars.com
has revealed the cover
for the third The Old
Republic tie-in novel Revan:
There’s something out there: a juggernaut
of evil bearing down to crush the Republic - unless one lone Jedi,
shunned and reviled, can stop it.
Revan: hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left
Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians and returned a disciple of the
dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave
Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His
memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares and
deep, abiding fear.
What exactly happened beyond the Outer Rim? Revan can’t quite
remember, yet can’t entirely forget. Somehow he stumbled across
a terrible secret that threatens the very existence of the
Republic. With no idea what it is, or how to stop it, Revan may
very well fail, for he’s never faced a more powerful and
diabolic enemy. But only death can stop him from trying.
Written by Drew Karpyshyn, author of the Darth
Bane trilogy, Revan
is due to be released in hardback on 15th November (US & UK).

Title revealed for upcoming Wraith
Squadron novel
Posted:
13th July
Del Rey has revealed via Facebook
and Twitter
that Aaron Allston's upcoming Wraith Squadron novel will be
titled Mercy Kill. It is due for release next Summer
in hardback and although not much is known of its story, Aaron did recently
reveal that the story will take place "in the same
approximate period as Fate of the Jedi, but there are
critical chapters that revisit the Wraiths in earlier years,
starting just after they made the jump to become an Intelligence
unit. The current-era story reunites some of the longtime Wraiths,
introduces new ones, and even has second-generation Wraiths. Not
every subplot that arose in Fate of the Jedi will have been
resolved by that series’ end, and it’s up to the Wraiths to
clean up a big mess left behind." |

Plagueis novel and a reminder of the Tragedy of Darth

Lord called Darth Plagueis. So powerful and wise was Darth

killed in his sleep by his apprentice.

Apocalypse teaser synopsis
Posted:
8th July
In their Spring 2012 catalogue, Random
House has published a teaser synopsis for the final title in the
nine-book Fate of the
Jedi series, Apocalypse.
As this may contain POTENTIAL SPOILERS,
highlight between arrow-heads to read:
>>>Luke
Skywalker leads a desperate all-out assault against the new face
of Darkness: the Lost Tribe of the Sith. The future of Coruscant,
and of the Galactic Alliance, hangs in the balance. But victory is
far from certain. Luke and his Jedi Order will be tested as never
before and the galaxy will never be the same again.<<<
Fate
of the Jedi: Apocalypse by Troy Denning is due for release
in hardback in the US on 3rd April 2012 and one month later in the
UK.
According to Random House the hardback
edition of Apocalypse
will also contain an "extensive excerpt of book one of next
Star Wars series". LucasBooks' editor, Sue Rostoni,
has already intimated that they are not planning any more
multi-title series like Fate
of the Jedi, so this "next series" would either be the
first title in a new trilogy, like Troy Denning's Dark
Nest trilogy that follow the 19-book New
Jedi Order series; or a duology, like Paul S. Kemp's Crosscurrent
and Riptide titles
that follow the 9-book Legacy of
the Force series.
