Last of the Jedi #1: The Desperate Mission
By Jude Watson
Reviewed by Bones, UK
Reviewer's Score: 3 / 5
A promising start [...] several interesting things occur in this book
[...] we get to see Obi-Wan during his time on Tatooine as he maintains his vigil over the young Luke Skywalker
[...] find out what happened to Ferus Olin after he left the Jedi Order
[...] I hope the series doesn't turn into a set of variations on Obi-Wan leaving Tatooine to go off on a quest
[...] Ferus and Obi-Wan were a little too casual in revealing their Jedi pasts... read

Doesn't really work very well as a story in its own right. It is more a prologue
[...] had anticipated a series of books based around Obi-Wan Kenobi, but that doesn't appear to be the case. This is very much Ferus's story
[...] is better than expected [...] a book with a distinct purpose: to set up the rest of the series. It does it relatively well, but is by no means perfect... read

Already quite apparent that this series tells a larger story
[...] a set of interconnected books that tell one over-arching story

As the story is progressing, the characters are becoming more rounded
[...] A little meandering a times [...] always leaves you wanting more... read

Rather epic story arc [...] ties off some plot lines
[...] ending, sadly, felt a little rushed, with pieces falling a little too easily into place and "convenient" things happening. Nothing hugely wrong, but enough to cause perhaps a little discomfort when reading. The links with The Phantom Menace are also perhaps a touch laboured
[...] a solid volume in the series... read full

Not a bad book by any stretch [...]
best part of this book was the struggle of the clones
[...] Kemp's writing made me empathise with their plight and genuinely wish for them to succeed
[...] Another gripe I had was the way characters managed to figure things out so quickly
[...] Hurried plot points also contribute to the scant girth of the book... read

A thrilling adventure story, worthy of the title of "Star Wars". Really paints an
accurate picture of decaying Republic dying of corruption but with a little
change. |

A very gripping story. It's tells splendidly how Darth Vader and Moff Tarkin became formidable allies. Also it was good to see that
Vader out of his shell being helped by more robots then being in some special chamber. Also, it was cool to see him dream about the possibilities of an alternate future, where he's a father to his son Jinn, his wife the new Supreme Chancellor, and that he is stopped the
Sith and is still a Jedi despite his attachments. It made me feel sad when it was all revealed to be a illusion by some witch in the Ghost
Nebula. |

I have both the game and the comic book. When I got the comic book when the game first came out,
I really like it. I liked how they told the story from Boba Fett's point of view. I especially like how they expanded on as to why Boba did not take his shot at
Starkiller. It showed him to be sympathetic for the time. |
